Science

Science at HPAPP

At HPAPP pupils discover and understand the world through the Primary National Science Curriculum.  In Science lessons, pupils are encouraged to ask questions and explore their curiosity collaboratively with their peers. Using their theoretical knowledge of a topic, pupils lead practical investigations to answer the questions they’ve posed and confidently deliver their findings in oral and written reports. The pupils are resilient and excited by challenge and unexpected findings.

In addition to weekly science lessons, pupils have the opportunity to attend Science-related school trips.

Principles

Skills – Pupils at HPAPP further develop at least one of their year group specific scientific skills every lesson.

Curiosity – Pupils at HPAPP lead their own learning and investigations through the questions they ask about the world around them.

Investigations – Pupils at HPAPP conduct practical investigations in every Science curriculum area.

Evidence – Pupils at HPAPP confidently use evidence to justify their conclusions.

National Curriculum – Pupils are HPAPP are taught the Primary National Science Curriculum.

Collaboration – Pupils at HPAPP approach questions and problems collaboratively.
