Welcome from the Head Teacher

Harris Primary Academy Peckham Park playground

Harris Primary Academy Peckham Park, is a primary academy with nursery provision, where we are proud to celebrate the wide range of backgrounds, abilities, faiths and cultures within our school. Our success lies in our drive to ensure every pupil takes pride in their skills, abilities, and talents and uses these to help them attain the highest possible level of education.

Homelessness a very upsetting subject and is very real to the families at Harris Academy Peckham Park , the BBC have covered the superb work of the school in dealing with our situation; where so many families are homeless. Below are the links and the  4 minute radio interview at the link below is very moving.

Radio: The Peckham school where most children are homeless - BBC Sounds

At a time when big council estates in central London are being sold off and gentrified, forcing lower income families out of the capital, including many key low paid workers in the public sector who keep our city going, hopefully our coverage will make a difference by highlighting the difficulties that are being faced..

This is not just a question of homelessness, it’s also about the accelerating depopulation of families in inner London, the closure of many primary schools caused by it. We are a school that has recently opened its doors to the pupils of Harris Free School Peckham which had to sadly close in July due to the reduction of pupil numbers in the area. We are proud to support our local families and provide a safe space for children to feel happy and safe and able to learn effectively. There is no other way to bind a community together than that of a primary school playground.
