SALT Resource Of The Week

It's that time of the week again, and this week in honour of Comic Relief's Red Nose Day on Friday (tomorrow) I have included some fun videos as our Resource of the Week which you can watch with your class and help them to engage with identifying emotions and the Zones of Regulation, which is the approach we are using across the school. The Zones of Regulation is incorporated in the Language and Literacy Gym programs in KS1 and KS2 and so this should be familiar to all by now. It is an excellent tool to help children become more aware of their emotions and how their bodies feel, and support them to verbalise it and then use strategies/tools to manage it. You can watch these videos with students and pause after each clip to allow them to guess what emotion and Zone the character was in.

The first video is from the Pixar movie 'Inside Out' which tackles emotional awareness and mental health so wonderfully:

The second is a compilation of Disney characters/clips which can be used to let children guess what emotion they may be feeling and what Zone of Regulation they are in.
