Welcoming All Our Pupils Back Safely -September 2020

We are all really looking forward to being able to welcome our children back at the start of the 2020/ 2021 academic year on Thursday 3rd September 2020.

Pupils from Years 1 to 6 will be arriving at the main academy playground entrance at the following times.Parents are asked to leave pupils at the gate and to adhere to social distancing wherever possible:

(Siblings can be dropped off together at the earliest time).

Thursday 3rd September 2020

  • Year 6 in school 8.20am to 3.30pm
  • Years 4 and 5 return to school at 8.20am and are collected at 1pm
  • Years 1, 2, 3 return to school at 1.30pm and are collected at 3.30pm

Friday 4th September 2020

  • Year 6 in school 8.20am to 3.30pm
  • Years 1, 2, 3 return to school at 8.20am and are collected at 1pm
  • Years 4 and 5 return to school at 1.30pm and are collected at 3.30pm

 Monday 7th September 2020 onwards:

  • Year 2, Year 4 and Year 6 arrive at 08:20 am
  • Year 1, Year 3 and Year 5 arrive at 08:30 am

  • Every Friday school will close early to Reception and Years 1,2,3,4 and 5 at 1pm

(schoolwork will be provided)

Year 6 will remain in school on Friday afternoons.

Pupils are expected to wear uniform as normal and must attend every day. If pupils are quarantining, or in rare circumstances there are other health concerns, then approval from Mrs Corbett needs to be agreed. In this case Mrs Corbett will ensure a short term online programme is available on Teams for home education, until your child can return safely to the academy.

Classrooms have been set up with limited furniture and desk now all facing the front. This ensures that contact between pupils is limited and each child will have their own books, resources and pencil cases provided by the academy. Handwashing on entry to the academy and throughout the day will be enforced and pupils will be trained. THe academy is aware that some pupils may find the return to fulltime education a challenge and may experience some anxiety, so all staff have received trauma training and will be able to guide pupils.

At lunchtime all pupils will be eating in their classrooms. A hot meal will be provided for those who have a hot meal, in a Bento box and cutlery will be provided.

Playtimes and lunch breaks will be staggered so that each group of pupils stays in their year group bubble, minimising further any risk of infection.

Parents should collect pupils at the end of the day from the Main playground gate only one parent will be allowed on school premises, please ensure you  wear a face covering.

Should any pupil display symptoms of Covid19 then a clear isolation procedure is in place and parents would be contacted and their child kept safely in isolation until they could be collected. If any child displays symptoms of Covid19 infection then they should be kept at home and a call made to the academy to report this. If a case was to be confirmed through testing then the academy will follow government guidance and will communicate this, as required, with parents via email. If any closure was enforced on a year group or locally we have an online curriculum to be provided via Teams as needed.

If parents need to make contact with the school they can do so by phoning our office on 0207 639 6091 or emailing at: info@harrisprimarypeckhampark.org.uk

If for an exceptional reason the query cannot be answered by telephone or email then an appointment will be made with you and a meeting held in an allocated room at a set time, with 2 metre social distancing enforced. For obvious reasons this would only be where a problem cannot be resolved without a face to face meeting.

Reception children will start their first week on September 8th with a staggered start. Details for collection and drop off are different obviously for this group of pupils and parents have been informed of their own arrangements in letters. When Reception pupils begin fulltime education on the 14th September 2020, we will update the drop off and collection arrangements for Reception pupils on this page.

We are all very excited about seeing you and your children return and we know what a huge step forward this is.  Mrs Ladak and a member of the SLT Team will be on the gate to welcome you each day, please be patient and show understanding while we establish the new working pattern, as our primary concern is to keep all of our pupils safe.
