Harris Academies
All Academies in our Federation aim to transform the lives of the students they serve by bringing about rapid improvement in examination results, personal development and aspiration.

SEN & Disabilities

Information on the Local Authority's Local Offer can be found at: www.localoffer.southwark.gov.uk

At HPAPP we are a vibrant and inclusive learning community with high aspirations for all our pupils. We aim to make sure through personalised learning that each child’s needs are addressed. Teachers are committed to meeting the needs of all our pupils and we have a strong team of additional learning support staff to draw on within the Academy.

Children joining us with little previous schooling or who are new to learning English are assessed on entry so that basic skills can be acquired. We work closely with a wide range of more specialised services to bring additional expertise into the academy for those children who need a modified curriculum or an individualised programme. As an example, our speech and language therapist works closely with our teachers to ensure early intervention secures accelerated progress for children in the Nursery and Reception Classes.

It is also worth noting that from 1st September 2014, there are some changes to SEN legislation, following the Children’s and Families Act 2014. A summary of these changes are outlined below. To view the Special Educational Needs and Disability Code of Practice 2014, please click here.

Our full offer for pupils requiring additional support in line with the new code of practice (September 2014) can be found here.

A copy of our SEND Policy can be found here.
